In the Workshop Black Mountain Woodcraft

  Bruce Grob, Owner & Artisan

Bruce Grob expresses his environmental sensibilities and creative vision through wood.

“I love how each piece wood speaks to me,” Bruce says. “The wood leads me to the right use, the design it’s meant to reflect.”

Bruce followed his passion into full time woodworking after more than 30 years in higher education and non-profit management, with a focus on organizational capacity building, fundraising and development. He continues to serve as a trustee with the Eagles Nest Foundation, and to consult with several non-profit agencies.

In addition to his consulting work and ample time in the wood shop, Bruce loves to explore the mountains of western North Carolina – hiking, road biking, and creating organic feasts with produce from the garden and local farmers markets. He lives in Black Mountain with his wife of 40 years, Banta Whitner, in a green-built timber frame home they designed together. Bruce welcomes visitors to his studio and conversations by phone or email about your woodcraft needs.
